People Helping People: Empowering Self-Esteem in Girls

A local friend, business-owner turned founder and director of A Beautiful Me®, is on a mission. Since January 2009, Karen Palka and her group, A Beautiful Me, have offered self-esteem-building workshops to empower youth and strengthen communities. A Beautiful Me is a 501c3 charitable organization that fosters girls’ self-esteem in  3rd-12th grade through uniquely developed, interactive workshops.

On Sunday, November 10, A Beautiful Me presents its 3rd Annual Avant Garde Hair Show Event and Fundraiser. This family-friendly fundraising event showcases Michigan hair stylists and avant-garde hair created on everyday women.  This unique fundraiser supports the mission of A Beautiful Me, which is to empower youth in knowing they are beautiful — inside & out…confident, respected and loved!  Last year the event tripled in size from the first year with participants and attendees from SEVEN COUNTIES in Michigan (Lapeer, Macomb, Oakland, Sanilac, St. Clair, Wayne & Washtenaw).

The Hair Show Event and Fundraiser takes place at Zuccaro’s Banquet Hall, on Gratiot N. of M59, Chesterfield, MI. Doors open 3:00 pm, Dinner 3:30 pm, Hair Show 4:30 pm.

Tickets are $55 per person. To learn more, visit the Avante Garde Hair Detroit Facebook Page.
